Alastair and Lauren’s Wedding- Grove House, Roehampton, London

Alastair and Lauren’s wedding day was simply beautiful. I always enjoy London weddings, growing up I spent a lot of time in the city, so it’s nice to photograph weddings there now. I first met Lauren and Alastair as guests at a wedding last year, and have gotten to know Alastairs family pretty well, it was lovely catching up with them all during the day.

The day began with a train trip into London and making my way to Clapham to meet Lauren and the girls at a local salon, while my colleague met Alastair and the boys for prep. It was a scorching day in the capital, after weeks of dry weather it was strange to see the grass in the parks brown and dry, I definitely had a work out that day carrying my camera gear in the heat.

After prep we made our way to one of the prettiest churches I have photographed in. It was a privilege to ride with Lauren and her parents to the church, this is a very intimate time and one that I rarely get to witness. Once we arrived at the church I made my way to the front to meet a rather nervous Alastair, and waited for Lauren and the bridesmaids to arrive. This is always a favourite time of mine to capture, watching the reaction of the guests and the groom when they see the bride for the first time.

After the ceremony we headed outside into the summer heat, Lauren and Alastair being greeted with bubbles rather than confetti, a nice idea indeed.

After a short journey on a bright red London bus, we arrived at Grove House in Roehampton, London. It was my first time photographing at this venue, the main building is gorgeous, and makes for a great backdrop. And then it happened, RAIN!!!!!!! It had been weeks of hot weather, so the short burst of rain was a very welcome sight.

The meal started with Lauren, Alastair, and the wedding party dancing into the room, Lauren is American and this is quite the tradition at American weddings, something that I think we should most definitely adopt here in the UK 🙂 The day continued with some very heart felt speeches and then everyone busting shapes on the dance floor.

It really has been lovely getting to know Lauren and Alastair this past year, their families made us feel so welcome on the day, and allowed me to just capture the wedding in a genuine and honest way. Thank you again for having us there.
